The Things I Do!

See this? This is a green smoothie in my blender. It's what I make myself when I get that little voice in my head saying "I think I'm coming down with something". It's off the diet I know, but only marginally. And I figured it's worth it for my family's sake as I am a really crap sick person. I'm usually ok for a couple of days, then I'm over it and need to get active again. So I prefer to try my best to restore my health. For more info on green smoothies you can see another one of my blog posts about green smoothies here Green smoothies

Not The Lemon

I forgot to mention that on my diet I am not doing the lemon thing first thing in the morning. You see, you are supposed to have half a lemon squeezed in hot water before you do anything else. The last time I adopted that in my day, I found the enamel on my teeth started to erode and they (my teeth) got very sensitive. Not for me!

Dieting Tip

Got caught out today a couple of times unprepared. I was a representative today at an under 8's day at a school so I packed an apple and water thinking I was well prepared. As I got a lift into the venue, I realised when it was too late that my food was still in the car. I had only the bare necessities on my person as I needed both hands free and I realised at morning tea time I had no teabags. Had to have black tea instead of green tea and when I got back to the car at 12.45 the apple didn't touch the sides. Then tonight I took my son to guitar, had been so busy all afternoon I had no time to eat and realised (when I got to guitar and had time to breathe!) that my stomach was rumbling louder than my game music coming from my iPhone and not a celery stick or yoghurt cup in sight! Lessons learned!

Patriotic

I don't really follow any sort of footy. You may have read recently that I have decided to support the new Gold Coast Suns. And that's the most I've ever looked like a supporter in my life (other than Saturday morning basketball for Under 12's!).
But there's something about State of Origin. Every year when it comes around I'm all of a sudden vocally proud to be a Queenslander!

Diet Support

I sit on the chaise part of our couch (when I have the opportunity to sit of course). Next to the chaise is an insert that includes a hidden compartment for remotes and two drink holders. My son, who eats his Easter treats very slowly has kindly placed this gigantic egg on top of the hidden compartment at my left elbow. Nothing like a bit of diet support!

Madly Knitting

Here's my next project. A red scarf-my plan is to add some blue and gold fringing when done so I've got a scarf to match my Suns guernsey for those cold winter nights at Metricon Stadium.

Showing My Support

Went to people's day at Metricon Stadium this morning. A great family outing; rode our pushies out, met some friends out there, got my guernsey signed, had photo opportunity with my favorite player, Michael Rischitelli, then rode home.

Too Good To Be True!

Well, I'm not sure if you read my post on my other blog about starting a diet! It's actually a very healthy eating plan but let's face it, from what I was eating before, it's a diet. So I started yesterday and I weighed myself. Out of curiosity, as the diet has made some big promises about weight loss, I weighed myself this morning. In one day, I have lost one whole kilo. I know it's too early to tell overall what's going to happen however to me that is substantial. Normally it would take me three weeks to lose that! Very motivating.

Getting Ready

Well as part of getting ready for the diet changes I'll be making over the next couple of weeks, I decided to walk to the grocery store this afternoon instead of driving. I tell you, you don't notice a couple of extra kilos when you gradually put it on but try going to the shops & buying a couple of kilos of fruit & then walk home. You sure notice a couple of extra kilos then!

Sugar Addiction!

In an attempt to get off the sugar addiction treadmill from the weekend I gave dessert a miss tonight. Instead I had a bowl of fruit. It consisted of watermelon, rock melon & this gorgeous fruit, dragonfruit. We have them growing in the garden. Aren't they a great looking fruit?

A Teaser

Well here it is before it goes into the fridge. Another batch of white choc rocky road. So easy to make, so delicious. It used to be made as a teacher's present at the end of the year. Then it also became a Christmas favorite. After this weekend it might become my signature dish! LOL! My mouth is watering. I hope some of this makes it to our retreat, Carmel.

Each Day

It gets harder each day to leave the comfort and warmth of my bed at this hour as winter draws nearer. I wonder how I can re-arrange my week so I can stay in bed for another hour and a half!

What I Love About Today

For me, Mother's Day enjoyment comes from feeling relaxed and calm, having no expectations of anyone or anything, being totally present all day, not having to be responsible for any food or fun choices, just turning up and soaking it all in. I enjoy the presents of course, but that's not what makes my day. Enjoyment also comes from being able to choose the 'tasks' I want to complete (as my husband and my son treat me like a queen for the day!) and spending time doing what I love all day; reading, sleeping, teasing, laughing! I hope you enjoyed every minute of your day too.

The Worst Service I've Ever Had

Today, I went to replace my licence that I misplaced on Wednesday. After having a trip to Queensland Transport only to find I didn't have adequate ID, then returning only to be greeted by a customer service person who wanted to pick an argument with me, no matter what I did. An absolute 'Right Fighter' to quote Dr Phil. Well let's see how 'right' she is when she has to sit down and write me that written apology I requested in my complaint letter!

Lovely Life

I've been having such a lovely life, I forgot to do the exercises in my Mind Body & Spirit diary. Let's see what is
in there for May...oh interesting! It says Social Networking websites aren't that great for cultivating friendships(I totally disagree) and it suggests I select four people I cherish and send each one a handwritten note using beautiful stationery. That I can do....I'll put it on my 'to do' list.

My Favourite Cafe

I went to my favourite cafe today. It's so lovely. It's at Ashmore Garden World and it goes by the name "Anna's Garden Terrace Cafe". Wonderful atmosphere, great food, fantastic company.

All Caught Up!

It always feels great to have spent 3 whole weekend days at home doing things around the house & relaxing. I feel I am all caught up & refreshed & ready to take on another busy week.
